My First Featured Video on Instagram!

Woo hoo!!! I made it onto Zumba’s Instagram account with my very first #zmoji video! Check it out below:

I am pretty sure “Firehouse” + this routine is a fave amongst MANY Zumba Instructors who have listened to Zin 66 — it was definitely one of my favorite songs when I first watched it. 🙂

Zumba Fitness Dancehall Warm-up Routine

Here is one of my favorite Zumba Fitness Warm-up routines! Choreography was created by Kim Marie, who gives a special thanks to LaToya Bufford & Catherine Chiemelu — Dancehall Mash-Up Queens — for the inspiration.

If you love dancehall moves and music — this one is fiyah! Kim Marie is on the left side of the screen providing the massive energy + verbal cues… I am on the right side of the screen focusing on smiling and not making funny faces… We wore pink Zumba gear to coordinate and in preparation for Breatst Cancer Awareness next month! Anyway, hope you enjoy! Please like it + share it + teach it.

Richmade Neon Thursday Zumba Recap

Neon Thursday Two Hour Zumba Extravaganza

Last week, I had the chance to teach a few routines in one of my favorite Zumba classes! There was a special two hour “Neon Party” Zumba class at 24 Hour Fitness. I was a ball of mixed emotions — excited to teach routines to my workout buddies and scared that I would be hard to follow.

My playlist included songs I really liked that I listened to a lot — and chose routines that had some basic patterns… But somehow I managed to make it complicated inside my head. I practiced the couple of nights before to these six songs:

  1. La Tusa (salsa choke) from ZIN 54 I looked funny doing the routine so I switched this for #7. 😀
  2. Más Que Tu Amiga (salsa) from ZIN 55 –> https://youtu.be/kOAk54cLEbw
  3. Rumba Buena, Fiesta Latina (merengue urbano) –> https://youtu.be/ppXSF1ANacg
  4. Plakito (reggaeton) –> https://youtu.be/ENgXicqh4t4
  5. Shake Yuh Bum Bum (soca) –> https://youtu.be/jnj6zGL-r7s
  6. Piensas (Dile La Verdad) (salsa flamenco) –> https://youtu.be/9HMFt5CR1_M
  7. GDFR (hip hop) –> https://youtu.be/CmDwdkJcHEY

The day of my teaching debut — I was so nervous that I was watching Zumba routines (#2 + #5 from above list) during my lunch break and making notes! Yup, notes! Like I was studying for exams! Who even makes choreo notes for learning Zumba routines!? o___O I do!

Still excited and scared for the class — I showed up with my notes and when my songs came on, I went to the front of the class and tried to teach the routines as well as I could (I even posted my notes on the mirror). Good thing Kim Marie (instructor and one of my fit-sporations), Celeste (guest instructor) and my classmates are so supportive! I’m still not where I want to be… but I feel a bit more confident and comfortable to teach a routine. Next fear to face will be facing the class (and not just looking at myself in the mirror when I’m teaching). Baby steps… 🙂

My friend Breyda was able to record me teaching! @__@

It was a great experience and I am grateful for Kim Marie‘s support! ❤ Photos from the two hour party are below. 😉

Throwback Thursday: Nike Rockstar Workout Dancehall

One of my favorite Nike commercials ever! This even features Ashlee (from So You Think You Can Dance Season 2) and choreography from Jamie King!! I remember somehow downloading the instructional videos and watching them over and over to learn the moves. 🙂

Mr. Vegas – Bruk It Down – Dancehall Funk class

I just saw artistpush’s post about Mr. Vegas – Bruk It Down’s reggae music video… Which led me to investigate further on YouTube. I found a class I would totally check out.

Maybe one night when I am bored, I will try to learn these moves since there is a tutorial! *Yes* 😀

Or maaaybe… Maaaaybe even take a Dancehall Funk class since it’s in North Hollywood!
